We absolutely adore weddings near sandy shores, with the gentle melody of waves crashing in the background! The blend of nature’s splendor with the beaming faces of the couple and their loved ones is always such a treat to photograph. Megan and Tate’s La Valencia Hotel wedding in La Jolla, California, ticked all the boxes of a chic and romantic beach wedding. From heartfelt mother-daughter moments to the post-ceremony shotski that sealed the deal, this wedding had it all. And we had the pleasure of capturing their wedding day in all its glory.

Megan and Tate’s La Valencia Hotel Wedding

Megan and Tate crossed paths in college, where Megan was on the soccer team, and Tate played baseball. And the rest, as you can guess, is history. These college sweethearts decided to embark on a new journey together and chose La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla as their wedding venue. As the big day arrived, Megan and her bridesmaids spent some quality time together while Tate and his groomsmen headed to their rooms to suit up for the ceremony.

Megan’s expression of love and gratitude towards her mother was truly remarkable as she chose to wear her mom’s exquisite wedding dress for her big day (you HAVE to check out the train on that dress!). Megan’s mom was beaming with pride as she helped her daughter with the final touches. Witnessing such heartwarming mother-daughter moments never gets old, and it’s such an excellent opportunity for us to capture candid and authentic wedding day emotions.

After the couple got dressed, we took the opportunity to get solo portraits of the bride and groom, who looked absolutely picture-perfect! Megan’s radiant smile was infectious, while Tate exuded an effortless and sophisticated vibe. The couple shared a sweet first look, where they gazed lovingly at each other before saying ‘I do’.

Tate and Megan’s wedding ceremony unfolded in one of the lush green gardens at La Valencia Hotel. The towering palm trees, manicured lawn, and sparkling ocean vistas made for an enchanting backdrop. Amid playful giggles and laughter, the couple exchanged their vows in the presence of their loved ones and sealed their marriage with a…wait for it…SHOTSKI!

After the ceremony, we whisked away Megan and Tate for some couples portraits. Megan slipped into her second wedding attire, a simple yet stylish dress perfectly suited for the evening festivities. The newlyweds were all about having fun, and that was pretty much their entire wedding day vibe! The couple hopped on a golf cart and headed towards the beach, where they posed against a mesmerizing golden hour.

Megan and Tate held each other lovingly as they kissed and even broke out into a dance as they soaked in the love and that ‘just married’ feeling. Everything came together flawlessly, and it felt like even nature was showering its blessings as the picturesque blend of the sunset and the ocean offered the perfect lighting and backdrops for their super romantic couples portraits.
