Prepping for Your Engagement Session | France Photographers

How do you prepare for a photo shoot?!

It’s no secret, most people are uncomfortable getting their photo taken! Now, that doesn’t mean it can’t be a great experience! Last week we talked about how to choose your outfits for your photo shoot, but what about all the nerves?!

Prepping for your engagement session ensures you will have a smooth day, and that your photos will come out amazing. No preparing for your shoot means you will be rushed, anxious and maybe even forget something! Here are our tips for making sure you get the most out of your session, and actually enjoy it!

Having a drink before hand can loosen you up, and make sure you aren’t giving any fake smiles! Make a date night out of it since you will be looking your best, and have a cocktail before! Then you can make reservations for a nice dinner afterwards as your reward!

Pick your outfit ahead of time

This is a big one! Couples always tell us how stressful picking outfits can be (which is why we wrote this blog post!). You want to match, but you don’t want to look cheesy. You want to be comfortable, but also want to look nice! Finding the right balance can be tough. We suggest you try EVERYTHING on before hand, stand next to each other, maybe even take a photo together so you can see how it looks! Taking this big stresser out of the equation can help ensure a smooth photo shoot!

Pick a great location

If you and your partner don’t like to drink coffee, don’t pick a coffee shop for your shoot! Pick a spot where you feel comfortable and you can be yourself. Not sure where to do your photos? Let us help you! We can show you loads of engagement sessions with different locations to let you choose the style right for you!

Clean your ring!

Show off that bling! We want to take tons of photos of that new piece of jewelry, so make sure it’s nice and clean! Local jewelry stores clean rings for a small fee, or you can take it to the shop where your partner bought it for free.

Set the expectation

Remember that it’s your partner’s special time too! And don’t forget to be yourself, make it your own, and have fun!
