Estancia La Jolla – this secret garden location is utterly gorgeous as a wedding venue and offers multiple ceremony and reception sites to choose from (but note that that does mean that multiple weddings can be happening on one day). The property used to be an equestrian estate and much of the architecture still celebrates that California Ranch style but with green grass and trees as well. There are even palm trees and cactus you can build into your photos!
Rancho Bernardo Inn – this venue is enchanting, and its outdoor green spaces and courtyards have a little bit of an Alice and Wonderland feel. Tree-lined paths and set-apart spaces can be used for the romantic couple’s photos that we love to capture. They have a myriad of ceremony and reception sites to choose from, with some even overlooking the golf course! But as with Estancia, multiple weddings can be happening on one day.
The Havens – this venue has one main ceremony site but does have the option to choose between an outdoor and indoor reception. At The Havens, they only book one wedding a day so the property will be all yours. The beauty of this venue is unrivaled in terms of the majesty of the huge trees alone but there are historic elements to this venue – like gates imported from Provence along with some antique stone windows reclaimed from an Orangery in the South of France. So if you’re looking for European elements for your wedding photos, this might be the place to choose.
We absolutely love all these venues because they are beautiful and offer so much variety for beautiful photos filled with greenery and atmosphere – but one of the best parts is that each of these locations has a place where couples can get ready on the property. This means there isn’t the hassle of traveling to different locations between getting ready and the ceremony and saves time, reduces stress, and gives us, as your photographers, more time for amazing pictures of you in the gardens! Estancia La Jolla and Rancho Bernardo Inn are also hotels so guests have the option to stay as well, which can extend your party beyond just the wedding day!
Why Choose a Garden Vibe For Your Wedding
We know that San Diego is by the water and we are always there for the salt and sea, but there are good reasons to choose a garden-vibe wedding venue for your big day. First, there’s lots of shade. And shade and trees can filter light beautifully so you – and your guests – are not staring into the sun during the ceremony. Shade can make summer weddings so much more bearable in terms of temperature as well. And of course, shade makes for gorgeous photos as the sun peeks in through the branches.
