We just love florals and talking wedding floral inspo! Florals can add so much beauty to a wedding day and incorporate just the right pop of color to an otherwise black and white affair. We have some tips and tricks for how to build flowers into your vision as well as the top florists we love working with in the San Diego area.
How to Incorporate Florals

Incorporating florals into your wedding day vision is as easy as 1-2-3. First, choose a theme, then pick a color palette, and last research what’s in season. If we had to add a 4th must-do, we feel it’s also important to set a budget. Budgets can vary but some items that affect budget are deciding ahead if you want to use living flowers, faux flowers, or a combination of both and also whether you’re willing to take on floral design by yourself or hire a pro.
Where to Incorporate FloralsÂ

Once you know your theme and color, knowing how and where to use florals is just as important. A beautifully designed and personalized bouquet, a solitary bud adoring the lapel of a custom suit as a boutonniere, an ornamental spray on top of a wedding arch, or flower centerpieces at each reception table are just some ideas that most couples are familiar with. Beyond the basics, fresh flowers can be used to adorn the aisle and fresh petals can be scattered by the bridesmaids as they walk ahead of the bride. Buds and blooms also look gorgeous as natural cake toppers and on or around the cake table and the sweetheart or couple’s table. And if you’re looking to gift something special to some of your family and friends, florals can be used to create corsages for mothers, grandmothers, aunts, or really anyone who would love to wear one! And a bonus tip, one of our favorite things to do with florals is to incorporate loose stems when doing a flatlay of the details. It really adds to the image. We always suggest our brides request loose florals from the florist they decide to hire.
Why Choose What’s in Season

Choosing flowers that are in season not only helps with your theme and vibe but also can save money and ensure the freshest blooms. Here are some examples of popular wedding flowers by season.
Spring brings forth the glory of Peonies, Tulips, Lilacs, Daffodils, Hyacinths, and Sweet Peas. These flowers are also some of the most fragrant, so be prepared to turn heads and draw bees with your bouquet!
Summer shows off its softer side with Roses, Dahlias, Hydrangeas, Sunflowers, Zinnias, Delphiniums, and Lisianthus. Though Roses are really available every season, they are most abundant in the summer.
Fall lends itself to more dramatic, hearty, bold blooms like Chrysanthemums, Marigolds, Amaranthus, Astilbe, Calla Lilies, and Sedum. Fall is also a great season to incorporate non-blooming greens and browns like grasses, stems, and leaves.
Winter’s chill is broken up by Anemones, Camellias, Amaryllis, Hellebores, and Poinsettias. Hypericum Berries and Evergreens and Pinecones bring a hint of the holiday season into the florals.
