Intimate Hospital Elopement – Sheri and Matt

Sometimes life throws you curve balls and it’s all in how you handle them that determines the way you will live your life. Matt and Sheri got thrown one of the biggest curve balls of their lives, but they handled it with love and gratitude.

I met with them about a year ago at Sheri’s Parents house in Poway. They were so excited to show me around the property, as that was where they would be getting married. As we walked the property I just fell in love with them right away. I instantly saw that they just couldn’t wait for their wedding day to come so they could be man and wife. A few months after I met with them they found out that they were pregnant and couldn’t be happier to welcome their little one into their lives!

About 3 days before their wedding, I got an email from Sheri telling me that she had been admitted to the hospital with a ‘high risk pregnancy’. At this point they weren’t sure exactly what they would be doing, but I told them that I would be there for them in anyway they needed me.  The day before the wedding, the specialist informed them that there would be no way that they would let her leave anytime soon. They told them that it was just too dangerous for her and the baby. Sheri and Matt were still determined to get married on the day they intended to so their amazing family and friends quickly pulled together a ceremony for them at the Rose Garden in front of the hospital. The doctor had cleared Sheri to be ‘rolled down’ in a wheel chair but only for a limited amount of time.

In the words of Sheri Even though this certainly wasn’t how we dreamt up our big day, it was raw, it was real and it was BEAUTIFUL. Today showed me what dedicated, loving, and loyal families & friends that we have. We are beyond blessed. It also showed me that Matt & I can tackle any obstacle that comes our way – as long as we have each other. I love this man beyond words and I cannot wait to start this journey called marriage with my very best friend!”

It’s times like this that really put things into perspective. I’m in the business of documenting the best day of people’s lives, whether that be on the top of a mountain, or in a wheel chair at the hospital. Life is what we make it…choose to make it the best you can!!
